I am producing a banner for printing by a third party. It must be saved as a
..pdf. The size is 72 x42" I have a pdf printer (Adobe), but I keep getting
a "postscript error." Please help!

I tried those support options earlier and it still didn't work. I think it
has something to do with the size of the object, but I'm still confused about
what's going on. When I try to print a 8X11 inch document I have no
problems. Do you have any additional advice.

I made a banner using your specs, I had no problem except of course it printed
50 tiled pages. Did you convert the banner to .ps first and then used the
distiller within the Acrobat program? Is your printer person expecting a banner
without overlap? If you change the overlap to none the file is 36 tiled pages.

You maybe experiencing memory problems.

Might download a large format printer driver such as HP DesignJet and setup your
banner, no tiling, I don't know how Acrobat handles this, it may be you will
have to setup a custom page size in Acrobat.

I don't want the tiles. I have tried to setup the .pdf to a custom size and
still can't get it to print. Keep getting "postscript error." I have tried
printing directly to a .pdf, creating an image first, creating a .ps first
and none have worked. However, if I try it with a 8.5 and 11 inch document
no problem.

Go to your printers folder, right-click the PDF printer, properties, device
settings tab, see if increasing the postscript memory helps.

In Printing Preferences, highlight Standard, add, create a default setting with
your dimensions, give it a unique name. In the Adobe PDF Page size, highlight
Letter, add, do the same and save as a unique name.

I went into Adobe and created a custom size. It printed fine.
