Error when opening Word

Good evening,

I have had office 2000 loaded on my computer for over a
year now with no prior major problems. Just recently,
after working on a Word file of about 65 pages (160 kb), I
had the following problem. After closing 3 active Word
windows, one of which had the large file, every time I try
to open Word, I get the usual error "Word has encountered
a problem, would you like to send an error report".

Normally, all I have to do is restart the computer and
everything works as usual. Unfortunately, every time I
open Word, this error comes up and forces me to close it.
I have tried to restart the computer several times now
with no success.

Is there anything else I can do to remedy this problem?
