Error when saving an edited form in a SharePoint library

I have an InfoPath 2007 web-enabled form that is published to a
SharePoint library. When a user edits a form and attempts to change
content in a rich text field, then save the form using the Save button
from the form toolbar, the form will not save and gives a pop-up
warning: "There has been an error while processing the form." No other
information is provided. The user can edit other fields on the form
and save the form successfully; only edits to the rich text field
returns this error.

These forms were created from an Excel spreadsheet, we used a macro to
create the XML forms, then uploaded them to the library. The user only
encounters this error when attempting to edit one of these uploaded
forms. If a form was created from the New button of the library and
then edited later, the error does not occur.

I've done some research and found references to secondary data
connections possibly causing this error, so I checked for unneeded
data connections and republished the form, but the problem persists.

I've looked at the properties of the rich text field and I don't see
anything that could be causing this error.

Can anyone provide some assistance? I am a "power user" and the
administrator of the SharePoint site, but I do not have access to do
anything to the server on which it is housed.

Thank you for any suggestions.
