Error when synching Entourage - Identity is being used in anotherOffice application

I'm baffled. I haven't been able to undo this for months and Microsoft was
completely baffled on how to help undo this error.

This is the exact error message from Missing Sync:

Sync starting at 11/16/06 3:53 PM (15:53:38) on USB (5.1.2)
OK Install
No playlists selected to synchronize
OK Mark/Space Conduit for iTunes
HotSync Failure: The Entourage identity "Main Identity Main Identity [Backed
up 1-31-2005 16.54] [Backed" could not be opened because another identity is
open in another Office application.


Any ideas?

up 1-31-2005 16.54] [Backed" could not be opened because another identity is
open in another Office application.

When you rebuild your database Entourage creates a backup Identity. This can
be trashed after you are satisfied with the rebuild.

I believe the reason you are getting the error is your Main Identity is the
one currently being used and your sync is trying to sync both your main and
backup identities.

Open your Main Identity and delete the "backup". Location of database:

Entourage 2004: ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/your
identity

Old files are named:

Entourage 2004: Old Database"
