Hi!
I spent hours to find a solution to this problem and when I
finally did, I thought I'd share it with you so this info
might be useful to others.
OS:
Windows 2000 Professional
Service Pack 3
Product:
Microsoft Frontpage 2000
Problem:
Error Opening a Web Folder
Error Message from FrontPage:
"The folder "http://MyWebServer" isn't accessible.
The folder may be located on an unavailable volume
or protected with a password.
My solution to this error was changing a registry value called
"AppData" in the registry at:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell
Folders\
The problem was that "AppData" contained a value that
indicated a UNC-Path to our file-Server.
When I changed this value from the UNC-Path to a local path
"C:\temp", Frontpage worked perfectly. I know it's not a
"rights problem", because i confirmed that I could write to
that share.
It seems to me that Frontpage can't handle UNC-paths very well.
I hope you can use this info in some way and make it so you
don't have to spend countless hours looking for a solution
to this.
I will also include the norwegian error message for the norwegian users
who might be looking for it:
"Mappen http://webserver/test er ikke tilgjengelig. Den finnes kanskje
i et utilgjengelig volum, eller den er passordbeskyttet. Hvis du vil ha
mer informasjon, se ... wecerr.txt"
Wecerr.txt: "Ikke tilgang til å utføre gjeldende operasjon."
Best regards,
