When trying to open Excel....I get this error

PDFMaker.xla: file format is not valid

Please help!

Maria,

PDFMaker.xla is related to Adobe Acrobat. You might try uninstalling and
reinstalling Adobe.

Hopefully others will jump in with suggestions as well.

THANKS! I did that but now I just have the error:

"file name".xls: file format is not valid

HELP!!

Maria,

What version of XL are you using? Did you just install it? Did you
recently upgrade?

There seems to be a fair amount of discussion when you search Google
newsgroups using "file format is not valid excel" .

I am not sure what the problem is without knowing more information to match
it against prior commentary.

My suggestion is, provide more background information here, and check the
Google archives.

I am off for the evening, so hopefully others will jump in and assist.

Look in your xlStart directory and move any files you find there. Excel
tries to load these at startup. In tools=>Options, in the general tab, make
sure you don't have anything listed in Alternate Startup Directory.
