Errors When Opening Root Web

Joe

This problem just popped up on me the past couple weeks. I must have
accidently deleted a file.

When I goto open a root web in FP2003 I get a dialog box that says the
feature I am trying to use is on a cd-rom. Please insert your Outlook 2002
disc. Well, I don't use Outlook. I use Netscape for internet and e-mail. And
I use Office 2000.

I click cancel and it tells me it needs outret.msi file.

I can click cancel again and it will eventually open up the root web but it
is a real pain in the butt.

I Googled this and looking for it in the MS KDB. I also looked for it on my
XP. Office 2000 and FP2003 discs but nada.

Thanks

It is related to MSOffice programs. Etheir you instlled/unstalled a
program aht affected a common file or a file is corrupt. Also, some
Windows or MS patches (auto or manual updates) can los cause problems.

If your XP has system restore enabled, you could try restore to an
earlier date before the problem. If you do a google searrch for the
flename you will see rfrences to oofice servce pak 3 and reinstalls.

..msi is MS instalaion file.

Thanks for the response PC. I can't do a system restore becuase I have
installed a couple other programs and worked with other files since then and
don't want to lose that info. Plus, I don't know exactly when the problem
actually started. I ran a "cleanup program" a couple weeks ago and am pretty
sure that is when it occured.

I have reinstalled Office 2000 and FP 2003 but that didn't work.

My Google search brought back some wierd. irrelevant answers. Maybe I will
try again and refine my search.

Thanks again

Have you tried letting it install what it wants from the Office CD when it
asks? That may be the easiest fix.
