I went to a chinese site that allowed me to download a
part of word that allows me to see the chinese character.
It couldn't install because I do not have the word 2002
discs on hand. All I get now everytime I start up word
and turn on my computer is the installation message.
Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of it??

Word a2002 already has what it needs to view Chinese characters. Extra
support is turned on in Windows, and you don't need to download anything.

What is the message? If it is just the Word EULA, log on as administrator
and accept it. Otherwise if it's a message for whatever you downloaded, try
uninstalling it from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
