Page 52 of the Project server 2003 Installation Guide, to configure the
administrative virtual sever, it's said : "Create a new application pool".

What the Hell is an "Application Pool" ?

An application pool is an IIS'ism. If you read up on IIS you'll find it more clearly defined. On your machine where project server is installed open up the IIS Manager and you'll see a folder called Application Pools and within that you'll see what's been installed on yours. We've got 5 application pools running on our installation.
