EULA continuously displaying

Erik Schweighofer

Hello,

I installed the Project Server SP1, because i saw there are many new
improvements, but the only thing I can see, is that there is a bug with the
EULA. It is continously displayed, when I accept the terms. In our office we
use more than 100 web clients, some of them work in other companies, have
computers I can not administer, so I have no idea how should i go to each
computer and try some magic tricks ( del temp files, activex components,
..... ) posted here in the newsgroups. Isn't there any official patch, or
some official support from microsoft to solve this issue? I can not use this
product even when i bought it.

Thanks a lot

Erik,

Did you setup the project server URL in your trusted sites list in IE? This is one of the first things that you need to do after you get an installation up and running. It's also critical for project professional to connect to the server.

Hi Earl

Yes, The Project Server was running correctly before I installed Project
Server 2003 SP1. The only thing I changed was instaling the SP1 on the
server. My config ( 2003 server, SQL 2000, WSS, ) I installed all 3 SP (
SQL, PRO, WSS ).
The problem is that i changed nothing on the client machines. Only installed
SP1 for Project server 2003 on the server.

This behavior is present only on some machines ( some have XP SP1, some XP
SP2, some win2K ).
I can find no rule, on which configuration this happens. Sometimes I can
solve it with deleting cookies, sometimes temp files, sometimes activex.

I see there are many posts about this problem and all the solutions are
like: clear temp, clear cookies, delete activex componnent. But all this is
done on client computers. I need to solve it on the server, not on each
computer, that will access Project server through IE.

It seems to be a bug in the ServicePack, so MS should solve it in this way.
Not to tell us to make some magic changes on our client computer. :)

Thanks for your fast reply

Erik,

I did a search on this and found that others installing SP1 had the same problem. There are several resolutions suggested in the threads I found so you should read them yourself to see which may apply to your situation best.

Google "eula project sp1" in the groups area and you'll find at least 2 threads besides your own.

Erik,

In followup to my post of a few minutes ago - I think the firewall software blocking cookies on individual machines sounds the most promising - since you said the behavior is only on some machines.

Erik,

Sorry about this post - I'd forgotten that you mentioned you searched the newsgroup already.

I still think the firewall software sounds like a good option for you. We actually had the same problem here with one of our users and his firewall software was the culprit.

Hi Earl,

I have one PC with the same problem and it's Win2K, there is no firewall, it
is located on intranet so no firewall between the server and client.

But Yes you are right, I think there is a problem with cookies or ActiveX
update..

Possibilities:

Upgrade the machine to MDAC 2.8
Delete the existing Active X objects from a command prompt using >del pj*.*
Make sure that browser version is current
