Even though I am connected to internet, Outlook cannot connect to

I am using Outlook 2002 SP3. All of a sudden, all my email accounts cannot
connect to their servers. Outlook tries to connect, sees the servers, by
times out before downloading any email. This is happening only on one
computer. All other computers on network connect with no issues. I tried
uninstalling Outlook, and then re-installing it. The problem did not go away.
I don't know what to do next.

Do you have any security (e.g. firewall, antivirus, antispam, .etc) software
that protects e-mail or communictions? If yes, try uninstalling that/those
programs and try again.

Thank you for that suggestion. My Norton Anti-virus/Internet Security 2005
had several corrupted files from the last update attempt. I had to re-install
it and all is right again.

Any suggestions on a better firewall/virus protection?

Beware, folks. The exact same thing happened to me today. Can't check
email and when I went in to change some settings in NIS, the program
locked up and I couldn't even force quit the program or force reboot
the computer. Had to cut power to restart. Appears there may be a flaw
in the latest update for NIS.

Not really as I have seen them all (McAfee, Norton, Trend, ZoneAlarm, .etc)
throw Outlook into some sort of fit at one time or another. It just easier
to know that the first step in troubleshooting is an uninstall/reinstall of
the security related product because its gone bonkers.

Your server email box may be full. Go in to your server maintanence and
check the box that says to forward and delete messages. Then, go in to your
personal mailbox on the server and delete all of your old mail.
