Event Change Table

I've added a subform to a parent form that populates a SQL event change
table. The parent link is an event change ID and the child link is an event
stage change ID. I assume that by assigning the parent and child links, the
SQL Event Stage table, automatically populates with the event change tables'
ID, but this is not happening....why not?
