Everything in red and underlined

We have 3 computers networked and I read where 2 people
could work on the same document, making changes at the
same time and then later merge the documents. When we
tried to merge after changes, the changes made to the
document were in blue type with a line through them.
After completing the merge, everything is now red and
underlined. We can not undo the underlining or change the
color of the text. If you type something new, it is a
normal black. But I don't want to re-type this lengthy

You need to ACCEPT THE CHANGES and then all should be back to normal.
