Excel 03 - Send Attachment (can't minimize Outlook window)

when sending an excel workbook as an attachment (File > Send To...> Mail
Recipient (as Attachment) I am unable to minimize the Outlook message.
Additionally if a meeting reminder appears while the Outlook message with the
workbook is attached, I can not dismiss the meeting. Any clues as to why?
