excel 2000 wont save

Hello
OK heres the problem ,all of a sudden large budget excell workboks tha
we have been using all year ,will now not save to any location be i
network or local drives under any name whatsoever, gos through th
motions and fails with cant save error

this is not just the one person or the one spreadsheet either

any ideas

i thought it may have been the old corrupt normal.xls but you dont see
to have this on excel 2000

Just guesses.

Maybe you can start excel in safe mode and try it out to see if you still get
the error.

Close excel
windows start button|Run
excel /safe

File|Open your workbook and see what happens.

If the problem didn't occur, then maybe it's a macro that's causing the error.

Look in that workbook's project. If you don't have macros in that workbook,
maybe it's in a workbook that's started when excel starts.

Chip Pearson has some instructions for finding problems at:

Essentially, you're going to move stuff out of your XLStart folder and uncheck
everything under Tools|Addins. (But keep track!)

If none of this was even close, you may want to post back the exact error
message.

And maybe.....

There was a virus that affected the File|Save, File|SaveAs and File|Open.
