Excel 2002 Problems

I just recently upgraded to Excel 2002, I was using Excel
97. I have two problems with Excel 2002 that I did not
have with 97.

First problem: I use several add-ins that I obtained over
the internet. When I open Excel, the add-ins are not
available visually either shown on the Tools menu or as a
new drop down menu. The only way I can use them is to go
to Add-ins on the Tools menu, uncheck the all of the add-
ins, then go back to Add-ins and recheck each box. Now
all of the add-ins are available for me to use. How do I
get all of the add-ins to be visible when Excel opens?

Second problem: I use custom macro buttons that are
placed on the Formatting toolbar. The macos assigned to
each button are in my Personal workbook. When I open Excel
2002 the buttons do not work and I get a message that
says "A document with the name "PERSONAL.XLS"

Checked Add-ins settings are stored in the Registry at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Excel\Options

Open, Open1, Open2 etc.

After you check the Add-ins you want to be available, close Excel and drill
down to Options in the Registry using the path above.

Are these Keys listed? If not, you have some sort of problem with permissions
for Excel to write to the Registry. Perhaps a User Permission problem. Can
you set yourself up as Administrator with full permissions?

You haven't given the entire Error Message for "Personal.xls"

Does the rest say "already open" or "can't find"?

Make sure Personal.xls is in your X:\Documents and Settings\User\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART folder so's it is available.
