Excel 2003 error message

N

Nik

After I installed Office 2003 over my perfectly functional Office XP
(I should not have done it!) I have the message

Compile error in hidden module: AutoExecNew
when I start Excel 2003
Compile error in hidden module: DistMon
when I close Excel 2003
I followed the directions in the MS support page file to remove the Acrobat
5 files pdfMaker.xla and pdfMaker.dot that possibly cause the problem from
where they were located with no success.

I had that problem with Office XP but removing those files (actually
renaming them) corrected the problem. But now with Office 2003 the problem
resurfaced and does not go away.
I used to have Norton Internet Security that is mentioned with these
problems but I unistalled it before Office 2003.
Their support is not helpful either thus far.

Is there any help on this? I would greatly appreciate any help.

Hi Nik,
Compile error in hidden module: AutoExecNew
when I start Excel 2003
Compile error in hidden module: DistMon
when I close Excel 2003
I followed the directions in the MS support page file to remove the Acrobat
5 files pdfMaker.xla and pdfMaker.dot that possibly cause the problem from
where they were located with no success.

The addins are still there obviously.
Search your harddisk for those files and make sure you search in hidden
folders/files. Remove ALL of them.
