Excel 2003 freezing when changing a cell or adding new data

When I add data to a cell or change the format of a cell, every two or three
entries Excel will freeze for about 30-40 seconds. hen you are entering a
large amount of data, this can increase the data entry time by tens of
minutes. Any one experienced this problem or have a suggested fix?

Possibly the book's v.calculation-intensive
Try setting the calc mode to "Manual"
Click Tools > Options > Calculation tab > check "Manual" > OK
Then press F9 to recalc only when necessary
