Excel 2003 highlight problem

Office Excel 2003
Once clicked on the worksheet cannot click else where, Areas gets
selected from the first click to where ever the second click or third.
Cannot unclick or release.

Had to reinstall office to get rid of this. IS there any other solution

The next time it happens try pressing F8 to release the Extend Selection
mode.
