Excel 2003 opens worksheets with garbage

Excel 2003 has started to open worksheets with a dialog that it cannot read
the format, then opens them with garbage on one sheet, while the actual sheet
opens and can be used. What could be causing this now? Sometimes the
worksheets will open. Most times the error occurs. Very random.

We have not a clue, especially since this is a newsgroup for Macintosh
Excel. You will probably get a better answer by posting to one of the
Windows Excel newsgroups.
