Excel 2003 SP1 crashes when opening xls file

I get this error when opening an xls file:

Faulting application excel.exe, version 11.0.6355.0, stamp 40aa979f,
faulting module excel.exe, version 11.0.6355.0, stamp 40aa979f, debug? 0,
fault address 0x000fc4f9.

How can I troubleshoot further?
