Hi Jim,
I don't think you are going to get very far on pictures alone.
You might look at Debra's site
http://www.contextures.com
it has more pictures than most, but relies on wording like the others.
If this is a language problem, suggest you indicate what language,
if not English, that you would like to see Excel tutorials in, and you would
very likely get a more usable answer.
If you just want a slightly different viewpoint than your course you might try
some of the tutorials listed at
http://www.mvps.org/excel/excel.htm#tutorials
which are mostly tutorials directed to and found at universities.
What would probably help you the most would be a working workbook with
examples and for that I would certainly recommend Peter Noneley's
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/noneley
workbook with 157+ sheets, each with an explanation and example of an Excel function.
For more specific information, you would have to indicate what aspects of
Excel you are looking for help with. The best place for self help is to search
the Excel webpages or to search the Excel newsgroups. I think probably you
want to start with newsgroups and find out which websites you want to visit from
there. There are too many websites that are strictly created for advertising,
and those are much less likely to be recommended in newsgroup postings.
