Excel - 2003

When I open up a spreadsheet, it just gives me a gray screen. I then have to
go to "file/open" to view the content. It jsut started doing this today.
Can anyone help?

Very helpful. I was having the same issue and this resolved my problem. I
am curious how that box might have become checked to begin with since I do
not recall checking that option.
