Excel 2004 Mac Window Sizes and Positions

I'm using Office 2004 on MacOS 10.4 for about a year now. Recently, I'd
guess the last couple of months, existing spreadsheets open up in different
sizes and in odd places on the screen. Sometimes the title bar is under the
tool bar. Sometimes the right hand scroll bar is off the screen. Sometimes
the bottom scroll bar and tabs are under the dock. The size of the
spreadsheet can be small sometimes, normal another. By normal, I mean sized
to be edge to edge on the screen, and between the tool bar and dock. I

Any ideas as to what is causing this behavior? Are there preference files I
can safely delete to see if that makes any difference?

Thanks

Well, Richard, I wouldn't delete it just yet:) But you might check here
first re add-ins:

If that isn't the problem, with no Office apps running go to:

User/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist

Drag the file to the Trash then launch Excel & see if it behaves better. (It
will generate a new .plist). If so it suggests that the file was corrupt &
most likely needs to be put out of it's misery. However, you'll also need to
reset any of your Preferences (default font, sheets/new book, etc.).

Just deleting

~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Excel.plist

(where ~ is your home directory) won't delete any XL prefs- just window
positions, and IIRC, the MRU file list, and I would definitely try that
first.

The prefs listed are actually stored in the

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist

file (again, where ~ is your home directory). Note the differences in
path and filenames.
