Excel 2007 Cube access problems

The Excel 2007 Beta has some bugs/issues preventing many of the BI reports
from working that work today with Excel 2003 and OWC 11 with SSAS 2005.
1. The MDX generated by the Pivot Table uses the MDX Subcube filter rather
than the MDX WHERE clause. This prevents all the time series (e.g.
PrevPeriod) from working. Typical UI tools for SSAS2005 have 2 filter fields
for each type of filter. At least one field needs to use the WHERE clause to
keep normal reports working.
2. The calculated members of a dimension are greyed out in the selection box
and cannot be deselected to format the report. Prevents many formated
reports from being run in Excel 2007
3. The measure format strings are ignored some of the time (they work in the
Browser of the cube)
Very concerning especially with the termination of the one tool that works
today for these reports (OWC) and it is triggering a review of non-Microsoft
presentation tools for BI systems.
Any hope that these issues are recognized and will be corrected by the GFR?

Mike,

I find the same(very similar) with the MDX calculations. Not only greyed
out, but also not delivering values. works fine in SSAS and works fine if I
convert to formulas in Excle 2007.

Have you heard anything regarding this or do you have a good contact on the
development team.

Andrew,
On issue 1, the B2TR version reverted to the WHERE clause and my reports
worked again. However, I got word that they will be going back to SubCubes
in V2 out soon. However, calculations refering to cells outside the subcube
will also be suported so there is hope but lots of uncertainty ahead.
On issue 2, no solution in site yet but they are aware if it - changes
needed back in the SSAS end. I get all my results - do you always click on
the "Include calculated members" option?
I cannot find any issue 3s any more.
Good luck.

Thanks Mike.

Could you tell me the best way of checking the MDX generated by excel 2007
so I can check if it is a WHERE clause. I do always check "Include
calculated members" and can see them in the pop-up/dropdown boxes.
Do the beta trial versions change, so could I be using an outdated one?
I notice in your earlier post you state "This prevents all time series from
working". Were you just not getting any values or were you getting incorrect
values.

Thanks

Andrew

Andrew,
I have not done it myself - I have seen it done with IP port monitors - I
used other discussion group entries to realize the way MDX was being
generated.
Let me know if you find a good way to do it.
You must upgrade from Excel 2007 Beta 2 to Excel 2007 Beta 2 TR to get it to
work properly.
I was getting nothing for the time formulae with just Beta 2.
