excel 2007 file not opening from explorer

when i open explorer and try to open a spreadsheet excel opens up but the
spreadsheet is not there i have to then manual do a file open and search for
the spreadsheet.

this is not the same machine as my previous post

Try this: Office button, Excel Options, Advanced
Scroll down to "General" and make sure that "Ignore other applications..."
is unchecked.
