Excel 2008 Formula Bar

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Whenever I have the formula bar active, it freezes the Excel window and does not allow me to activate the windows of any other open applications. For example if I'm working in Excel but need to switch to Word or Acrobat, I am not able to do that until I close the formula bar. Does anyone have a solution? Please help, this is quite frustrating. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Confirm that you have Office 2008 fully updated (12.2.3), the same for OS X
(10.6.2), & that Disk Permissions have been repaired. If the condition
persists after a restart, while Excel isn't running go to:

UserName/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008

Delete the file named: Excel Toolbars (12)
