Excel 2008 is stuck in a recovered file/crash cycle

K

I opened up an xlsb file that I had created on a windows machine using Excel
2008. Excel crashed and then tried to recover my work. When it loads up it
reloads the "recovered" file. If I go to close Excel it then asks me if I
want to save the file, cancel or delete the recovered file.

If I hit save as - regardless of the file i save it as, Excel crashes and
the cycle begins again.
If I hit delete - Excel crashes and the cycle begins again.

It's totally stuck on this file and there's no way I can get out of it. Does
anyone have any ideas on how I might resolve this?

Here is an inelegant way of getting out of any Mac file is to hold down
Command option keys (command Key looks either like a 4 leaf clover or an
apple with a bite out of it on the key) at the same time and hit escape
while holding down those keys.

This brings up the Force quit menu. If the file is toast won't make any
difference to the file. a Force quit menu comes up choose excel and it
will quit. you changes to the document will be lost if there are any.

I would then try re importing the file and try again. IF you end up with
the same mess then you know that file will simply not work on Excel 2008.

If it's "fixed", don't "break it"!

A simpler way is to prevent the file from loading is to hold down the Shift
key when launching Excel after it crashes. That will prevent the
auto-recover feature from kicking in.

With regard to the crashing file, if you're able to share the file with us,
we would be happy to investigate. If so, please send it directly to me:
(e-mail address removed).

Thanks,

Your files may be damaged. I think you can try a popular Excel file
recovery tool called Advanced Excel Repair to repair your Excel file.
It is a powerful tool to repair corrupt or damaged Excel files.

Detailed information about Advanced Excel Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aer/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aer/aer.exe

forget it -

Alan124 is just trolling, looking for any post that he can use to
advertise, even if the product is worthless.
