Excel 2013 file extension .XLXML

Suddenly the file extension .XLXML became the DEFAULT program used to open
my worksheets. It caused havoc before I found the problem. I can only guess
how this extension became the DEFAULT program. First, due to automatic
upgrades from MS which somehow altered my choice of extensions, or secondly,
it is some sort of virus.

I have done deep scans using MS Security Essentials and it found NADA. I am
concerned since when I view the list of available extensions .XLXML appears
TWICE, and it is associated with "unknown program". Strange. Additionally,
if I try to open any Excel file with the "open with" choice, the ICON for
XLXML appears "shaded" as the program of choice even though I have
repeatedly indicated EXCEL as the choice.

Any Ideas. ??
