excel 400 problem

When I click formaton the toolbar, then hide, an error box pops up with a x
on it and says 400, I have tried everything and have now removed office XP
from the computer.

Before I reinstall it does anyone have any Idea what was going on here or
any sugestions.

This hapens even on a blank sheet.

When I run excel 2000 on another computer I don't have this problem.

Thanks

There is no Format>Hide by default on the menu.

So........is that Format>Sheet>Hide or Format>Row(Column)>Hide?

Thanks Dave

I was just going to uninstall xp version and install 2000 version when I saw
your suggestion

After I unchecked all the add in's, it corrected the problem

I rechecked all the add in and it still works (go figure)

Thanks again

Glad you got it working.

But I'm guessing that you didn't turn on all the addins that you had checked
before. I'd keep an eye out for problems--and keep those links to Chip's and
Jan Karel's sites handy <vbg>.

Yes Dave, I turned them all back on, even turned on one that wasn't on.

By the way, the last letter is missing in the 2nd link you sent, but I was
able to guess it. (Just in case you send it to someone else).

Thanks again

I've been following along with your posts to Dave and noticed that you're sorted
out.
