Excel 97 document and a possible macro

Hi

We have an excel document that is viewed by at times by multiple users.
The excel document gets its information from an access database via get
external data. This is done once in a while by the author of the document as
a manual process. A macro can easily be written to do this manual procedure
and saved within the worksheet and even set to autorun upon opening the
document if required or run manually. The author of the documant wants the
spreadsheet to be updated via a scheduled task. Anyone any ideas on how this
could be achieved ?
With word the /m macroname commandline option made word run the macro upon
startup so this could be put in a shortcut and and then scheduled. A simlar
option does not seem to be in the excel startup options, we dont want the
macro running everytime the document is opened.
