Excel 97 Formatting error

Hi everybody
when I open a excel spreadsheet I get the error, "No
more custom Number Formats can be added".

The excel file itself is not big. Also the behaviour is
different on different machines having the same version
of Excel ( Excel 97 SR2(k) Japanese/English)

Any clues ?

About half way down you will find an excellent macro by Leo Heuser for
deleting unused custom formats. I have used this several times, always
successfully.
