Excel 97:No option to Insert Symbol

On my laptop running Office 97 there's no way of Inserting Symbol as that
option isnt in drop down.
I dont have original installation media as that's on drive at HQ of employer
which I rarely visit.

Any suggestions please.

You can have the CharMap on your toolbar or as a menu item

which would require the copy and paste and possibly and
if applicable change of font.
