Hi,

Is it possible to open with Excel 97 an Excel 2003 file which
include a choice list ?

Great thanks

It should be--but it kind of depends on what you mean by a "choice list."

If you mean Data|Validation or a dropdown from the Forms toolbar or a combobox
from the Control toolbox toolbar, then yes, it should work ok.

Thanks for your reply.

Into Excel 2003 :
It is simply "right clic" on a list of cells and choose "make list"
(sorry for bad translation). Save as *.xls (or for excel97 *.xls).
Into Excel 97 :
When I'm trying to open this file, I've the full list, but no
"unroll".
Why ?

In xl2003, you can right click on a cell and choose "Pick from dropdown list".

It might have been called something else in earlier versions ("pick from list"
rings a bell).

I don't recall ever seeing anything like "make list" or "unroll".

Maybe you had another workbook or addin that was helping?

If you can find it, you should be able to install it to see if it still works.

If you are referring to Data>Create List, this feature became available in 2003
version.

Earlier versions do not suppot the feature.

Sorry for my poor english language,

I write in A1 : list
in A2 : 1
in A3 : 2,
and so ...

I select A1:A3
right clic on the selected cells
choose create list. (make list, may be)

On the upper cell A1, it is the selector for the values to select for

Once saved, it's into Excel 97 that the problem appears : No selector
on the top of the list.

That's not usually in the cell rightclick menu--if Gord's guess is correct--and
it sounds like it is.

Maybe you can use Data|Filter|Autofilter instead.
