Excel Adding Chart Series

I am having some trouble with a chart in Excel 2008. I need to create a chart that compares two series. Excel seems to be adding the second series to the first series?

Example

Series 1 data = 5
Series 2 data = 2

Series 1 chart line = 5
Series 2 chart line = 7

Any ideas?

Can you explain what you mean by those equations? And what type of
chart did you select? THere are many "stacked" charts which will plot
the stacked sum of all series at each point(or category).
My guess is that's what you have, so first try changing the chart type
or options. If that doesn't work, post back for more guesses :)
