Excel and Chinese Language

Peter

I encountered a problem that when a user extract a file
from SAP to Windows 98 SE Excel 97, they seems to be able
to read the Chinese Characters fine. So the file is
saved and send to a user using Windows 2K Professional
with Office 2K Professional. But when the receiver
opened the files, it contains gabage characters. Any one
can help? Thanks

Hi Jim

a) when you say each user must have chinese character font, what does this mean
how do we install/configure the chinese character font in the win2k

b) actually the user in win98 os has richwin installed. Therefore he can view the chinese characters.
when we install njstar (alternative to richwin) the user can see the chinese characters without any problem
Is there a microsoft alternative beside buying the 3rd party software like richwin or njstar

c) understand that under win2000/office 2000, we are able to key in chinese using the chinese IME
but will this be downward compatible with window98/office97 (can we view the saved chinese doc/xls in office97 ?

Thanks for yr help

Start/Settings/Control Panel/Regional Settings/Languages/Install support
for east asian languages.

You'll need your Win2k install CD.
