Excel attachment with links not updated

I think I know the answer to my question, but would like a professional to
confirm this. It's the only way to convince my co-worker about his problem.
So here's the story:

Each month I e-mail (Outlook 2003) a series of Excel (2003) files that are
linked to eachother. Since I update all links prior to sending, I advise the
recipients to not update links when they open the files. I'm simplifying
here, but the files are named something like this:

BakingSales1
BakingSales2
TotalBakingSales

I update these files every month and NEVER rename the files, because I have
links that would make renaming a pain. When 1 guy receives my file
attachments, he often calls and tells me I forgot to load the new sales data
for the month. After checking, it's always the same story--my copy of the
file is updated and looks fine. Fifty other people get the same e-mail
message and Excel attachments and theirs are also fine. Just this 1 guy.

This guy NEVER shuts down his computer unless it is absolutely necessary to
do so. I think that my files are in his TEMP folder and that they never
clear out, because he neither shuts down nor clears them out manually.

Is it possible that a file of same name (ie TotalBakingSales) in his TEMP
folder overwrites the new copy I'm sending him as an e-mail attachment?

Any answer you could offer would be great to get this dude off my back.
Thanks

No, that is not possible as the file won't be placed in the temp folder
until he tries to open it. When you try to open it and a file with the same
name already exists, the new file is appended with (1), (2), (3),... etc.
This happens even when you close the file and directly open it again from
within Outlook as the attachment is still within the email.

But looking at his temp folder couldn't hurt of course.
