Hi, when I click on Excel to start it opens then automatically opens several old files some of which are word files where it says cant open this format. How do I stop this? Help much appreciated.

The most likely cause is a setting you've made in Excel> Preferences>
General designating a folder for "At startup, launch all file in:". Either
clear the specification from that field or remove the files from the
designated folder.

Hi Thanks for the tip but I cleared the field and the problem still occurred. On thinking about it I could have selected accidentally some of these files for a multiple print which couldn't happen because some files are word.

Then you'll have to dig a little deeper & in a different direction :)

Have a look in: Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/Startup/Excel to
see if you may have stored those files in there.
