Excel behaving strangely

I have an excel document. It has three sheets and appears to load
correctly. Unfortunately, if you click on this document it is as if you
are holding the left mouse button down (mouse isnt faulty as it behaves
in all other apps(including ms-office apps). Once clicked it will not
allow you to enter data in of any sort and if you move the mouse it just
selects multiple cells like you are left click dragging with the mouse.

This is a highly important document and needs to be worked on today for
a major presentation friday. If anyone can help me please please please do.

This may not be much help and you may have already tried it, but I have had
that problem a few times and rebooting my PC always fixed it.

I ended up getting a copy of Norton Utilities, ran the windoctor (which
found 144 errors) it fixed them all and all of the problems we have been
experiencing have gone away.
It was a clean install 8 days ago and only has installed;

Win XP Pro
Office XP with Frontpage
Norton Antivirus
Second Copy 2000(great program)
and of course
Norton Utilities (installed today after errors were apparent)
