Excel Crashes after Cut and Paste

I'm using Excel 2000. 90% of the time I try to cut and paste or copy
and paste (especially a section larger than one cell) it freezes up
and then crashes. It doesn't always do it though.
Very frustrating.

I've tried reinstalling several times.
Could it be conflicting with other programs running on my machine? Is
it corrupted?

Any suggestions are appreciated.
