Excel crashes when editing source data in charts

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Hi I have created a new spreadsheet in excel and have plotted the data on a number of charts (actually 10) created in separate worksheets. I am saving this in xls format. Every time I click on a line on the graph and select source data the spreadsheet crashes with an error message. The error log is shown below. When the file re-opens I can select source data without it crashing. As soon as I open another chart to edit the source data it happens again.

Please help?

EDIT : just to clarify the crash is everytime I right click on a line in a graph, then select "select data". It is not "source data" as I mistakenly posted above.

See the thread entitled: [Excel Crashes on Editing Chart] which was started
earlier this morning by Sorcerer2008.

FWIW, I'm currently on a PPC Mac running OS X 10.4.11 without experiencing
any such behavior. I've not tried the scenario on my Leopard/Intel system,
however. Perhaps the reference in that conversation to the Spaces feature of
Leopard may apply for you as well.

Just to be on the safe side & avoid confusion, though, please keep any
further discussion of your situation confined to this thread. Also, I'm
afraid it's utterly pointless to post these lengthy error reports. The folks
who hang out here are other users -- not systems engineers or developers --
so the only thing most of us can decipher from them is the one line which
refers to "Application Version:" so it's best to simply submit the report &
include only your exact update level when posting to the newsgroup.

Cheers for the reply, yes it is the same problem. I didn't spot that thread before posting mine doh.. I also have an old PPC G4, 10.4.11 running Office 2000 and this is fine. Although it fails to show some of the charts - but thats another problem..
