Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

My excel started crashing today. Sometimes I can open a file for a few seconds. Sometimes a file won't open at all. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing works. Only excel is doing this; both word and powerpoint are fine. This is the error code that I get:

OK, Teach - You've read the *subject* of this antiquated post but have you
read the replies as well? :)

Seriously, If the suggestions offered don't resolve your problem then your
situation must be different in some way from what this thread originally
pertained to. Therefore it would be best to submit a NEW message rather than
resurrecting one that ended 2 months ago & had already been hijacked by
someone using a completely different version of Office than that being used
by the OP. The conversation just gets lengthy, tangled & misleading.

Also, extensive error reports do absolutely no good here. Their content is
decipherable only to the developers & software engineers who speak that
language. The folks here are just other users like yourself, so anything
from the "Thread 0 Crashed:" line on might as well be in Sanskrit :) Even
the first stanza is cryptic for the most part, but it does indicate that
your updates are seriously behind... The version indicator line shows;

"Application Version: 12.1.0.080409"

whereas 12.2.0 is the current version.

I'd suggest that you start with updating your software, updating the OS &
repairing disk permissions followed by a restart. Follow the suggestions
here for a successful update:

http://www.entourage.mvps.org/install/install_update_2008.html

If the problem persists post a new message stating all particulars.
