Excel - Data search and count within a cell

Lets say Cell A1 contains the following text string:

"Hello Yellow Mellow"

How do I count the total number of L's in that cell

Find and Search functions simply return the first instance
but not the number of occurances.

Any ideas. Please suggest away.
