Excel does not work after Snow Leopard upgrade

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

After upgrading my Mac to Snow Leopard Excel does not work. It is extremely slow, the pages are moving up and down and it is of no use at all. I did not do a clean installation - what do I do now?

Could you please try whether the workaround depicted in this post solves your
slowness?
