Excel - Embedded links change when file is reopened

Users are reporting that when they save an excel
spreadsheet, that when they re open it, the embedded links
re point from their G drive to their H or local C drives.
Sometimes the link is substituted by random words. I know
that this sounds virus related but can find no fix for it
on the web.

FWIW With multiple users I have to suspect them first <grin>. I hav
noticed a tendency to get problems when linked files are :-
1. Not in the same folder as the main file.
2. The user's currently active folder (check with File/Open) i
different.

I guess a user would have to save the file to make this happen. Perhap
one of your users has mapped the server to a different drive letter o
saved a copy to a local drive before saving back to the shared drive ?

No experience of "random words" though

Yeh, its an odd one, any other users i would become
suspicious, but its a trusted one. Its when they ssave,
and then re open the spreadsheet. It changes the links, to
one of their other mapped\local drives. In this caes
either h or c.

Thanks

Mark
