excel file doen't open

when i tried to open my excel file, i am not able to open
it. instead iam getting the message that file cannot be
accessed, file may be read-only etc., but i am sure that
the file is tried to open in my system only

You could try this suggestion from the Excel FAQs:

Q: All of a sudden a number of my Excel 2000 files have
become "read-only".
A: Clear out c:\windows\temp directory on the machine that houses
the files, then reboot.

I have the same error, after emailing an excel(officeXP) file saved i
an older format (and tried with format of Excel2002 also) to m
workplace computer. It seems to be happening to a lot of people. Th
deleting temp directory solution did not work, nor did the "uncheckin
ignore other applications" tip. The file can be used on the origina
computer. Is it being corrupted by emailing (Netscape)? Any othe
ideas?
