I am running OSX 10.5.5 on a MacBookPro, and am having difficulty opening existing Excel files. It will start a new file, but none of the files I already use for my studio tools will open.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

We can't provide much help unless you tell us what "none of the files ...
Will open" means. Do you get an error? If so what error? How are you trying
to open them? What happens?

I also am having the same problem.
I have OS X 10.4.11 on a MacBook Pro.

The Excel files on my desktop open just fine, however there are many located in various folders that will neither open when double-clicked nor when I go to file/open and navigate to the file. By many, I mean, for every one that opens, there are approx. 3 that won't.

For the ones that don't open, I do not receive any error message. It looks like Excel is about to display a new file, but then doesn't. And nothing happens.

Please help!

THANKS!

Sorry Nicole - I can appreciate that your *symptoms* may appear to be the
same but it can't be the same *problem* - you're running a completely
different version of the operating system [Tiger] than the OP who's running
Leopard. You've also not specified which version of Office you're using.

It would be best if you submit a NEW message rather than a REPLY to this
thread. Please provide complete details about your configuration including
exact version information for Office/Excel. Also, what is the source of the
problem files - Did you crate them yourself on the same system, did you
receive them via email, were they copied from another source??? Did they
originate on a Windows system?

Are the files stored on your local HD or some other device? Is the problem
with all files in each of several different folders or are there several
folders in which some files will open but other files in the same folder
won't? Do the filenames of the problem files display extensions? What is the
content reported if you use Get Info on the files?
