Hey there,

I have been having trouble sending excel files via email and ichat.
Also, when I try and open the files, it keeps prompting me to accept or diable macros over and over.

I just reinstalled Office 2004 but it is still occurring.

HELP!

First, reinstalling Mac applications is almost always a waste of time.
They just don't corrupt very frequently. OTOH, preferences (which don't
get removed unless you run the Remove Office application) DO corrupt
from time to time. Reinstallation works more frequently in Windows
because it often involves overwriting the registry.

Can we assume that there are no macros in your files that you know of?

Do the files open, or just give you the dialog over and over?

What happens if try to open the file with the shift key down?

Does this happen on a new file or just existing files?

If just existing files, were those files generated on a PC?

Do you have any antivirus software running?

hello J.E.,,,thanks for responding.
there are inherent macros in some of the spreadsheets.
Where possible I have deleted them and occasionally still have problems.
The files do open open keep asking for an associated file to open. This just started happening last nght.
This is occuring on old and new files. Not on every excel file. It's about 50/50.
The origin of the spreadsheets are from other mac users. Cant always be certain if they originated on PC. I don't have any anti-virus software.

Please Advise. Much Thanks!

It's hard to tell from your description, especially since the behavior
is intermittent, and since there are new symptoms.

With the 50/50 files, can you determine anything they have in common?

If new files have macros, then you have a template file named "Workbook"
that contains macros, in your Startup folder.

Asking for an associated file is more often a problem with a broken link
than a macro.
