Excel: format each worksheet header/footer?

H

HAAK

Any ideas on how to EASILY format each worksheet in a
workbook so that they are all the same? I see how to do
it one-by-one, but it is there an automated way that sets
the "master" worksheet and then the other worksheets all
copy its header/footer?

Thank you.

Right click any sheet tab and select all sheets. What ever
you do to one will be done to all. In the title bar you
will see [Group]. Just be sure to ungroup once you have
done whatever it is you need to do. To ungroup simply
click any sheet tab.

Right-click on any sheet tab and "select all sheets".

Do your header/footer setup on the active sheet. All other sheets will have
same header/footer.

DO NOT FORGET to right-click and "ungroup" after you're done with the setup.

What is done to one of the grouped sheets is done to all.

For the future, you can set up a default workbook and worksheet.

Open a new workbook. Customize as you wish. File>Save As Type: scroll down
to Excel Template(*.XLT) and select. Name your workbook "BOOK"(no quotes).
Excel will add the .XLT to save as BOOK.XLT.

Store this workbook in the XLSTART folder usually located at........

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

This will be the default workbook for File>New>Workbook.

You can also open a new workbook and delete all but one sheet. Customize as
you wish then save this as SHEET.XLT in XLSTART folder also. It now becomes
the default Insert>Sheet.

More can be found on this in Help under "templates"(no quotes).

You can 'group' the sheets in a workbook. Anything you do in group mode
will be mirrored on all grouped sheets.

To group contiguous sheets click on first tab, hold shift key down and click
on the last. For non-contiguous hold the Ctrl key while clicking.

To ungroup, click on a non-selected tab or right click on a selected tab and
select 'ungroup'
