Excel formula bar

Can the formula bar be docked with the standard bar or formatting bar? I tried trashing the XL preferences and got the standard formula bar back, but it doesn't help when I am comparing 2 spreadsheets on dual monitors. There is one floating formula bar on 1 screen and that makes it difficult to go back and forth.

No, the Formula Bar cannot be docked within the workbook window. This is a
design limitation in Excel 2008 about which there has been a great deal of
griping :) It's doubtful that there will be a change in this version, but
if you use Help> Send Feedback perhaps we'll see something different in the
next release. Provide a full explanation of why it would be beneficial.

Please also include a full explanation of what you'd expect to see when
you referenced sheets/workbooks in other windows in the formula bar,
e.g.,

-open two workbooks
-type = in a cell
-navigate to the other workbook
-click in a cell

Note that currently, the reference to the other workbook is inserted in
the formula bar. If there was a formula bar for each window, should XL
show the current formula in both (and if so, how would you tell which
workbook was the one having the formula entered?).

Or would you be OK with hiding the active formula bar under the new
window.

Note that *NO* past or present version of Win or Mac XL docks the
Formula bar in the *document* window.

WinXL, of course, opens a separate *application* window that the
document window(s) are embedded in. Mac applications that are document
based don't have that.

It would take a *MAJOR* rewrite of XL to convert it from a
document-based application to one with its own application window.
